Kwara Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Orphans, Vulnerable Children

The Kwara State Government has restated its dedication to improving the welfare of children in orphanages and correctional centres, ensuring they have the support needed to succeed in life.

Commissioner for Social Development, Hon. Nnafatima Imam Mariam, PhD, made this known on Wednesday during her visit to the Children Rehabilitation Centre in Amoyo and the Children Reception Centre in Pipeline, Ilorin.

She emphasized that the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration is committed to safeguarding the well-being of children with physical and mental challenges, as well as those in orphanages, recognizing them as an essential part of society.

Hon. Mariam praised the government’s ongoing efforts in nurturing children from diverse backgrounds, revealing that some orphans have successfully completed their education and are preparing for National Youth Service, while others are set for tertiary education.

She urged the children to embrace values of hard work, respect, and perseverance, assuring them that the state government will continue to provide support for a brighter future.

The Commissioner further pledged that the government would provide necessary resources to enhance the efficiency of care facilities, ensuring that orphanages and correctional centres operate seamlessly in line with the administration’s vision of an inclusive and supportive society for every child.
