In a bid to tackle the growing malnutrition crisis nationwide, the Federal Government has formally inaugurated the Strategic Board of the Nutrition 774 Initiative. Vice President Kashim Shettima, who described the body as a national “war room” against malnutrition, emphasized the initiative’s critical role in addressing a “quiet emergency” threatening the lives and development potential of millions of Nigerians.
The Nutrition 774 Initiative, named to reflect its nationwide scope across all 774 local government areas, is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Its primary objective is to harmonize scattered nutrition efforts, eliminate duplication, and provide a unified framework to deliver measurable results.
Shettima urged board members to see their appointments as a race against time to safeguard the nation’s future, emphasizing that the Strategic Board is not a ceremonial committee but a working group tasked with winning the battle against malnutrition.
The inauguration marks a decisive step by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to confront the nutrition crisis, and the government is expected to leverage the board’s expertise to drive meaningful change and improve the lives of millions of Nigerians.
