Serie A champions Napoli have maintained that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will only be allowed to leave for €75 million, despite the expiration of his release clause earlier this week.
Although the clause’s expiry could have prompted a change in valuation, the club has opted to stick with the same asking price. Osimhen, who has been expected to exit Napoli since last summer following a fallout with the club’s hierarchy, has yet to secure a move.
Talks with Turkish giants Galatasaray have stalled, as Napoli reportedly rejected multiple offers due to the lack of bank guarantees required to finalize the deal.
Latest reports in Italy say Galatasaray have agreed to provide Napoli with a letter of credit to ensure that they will be paid in full for the impending sale of Osimhen, but the player will still go for €75m.
The reports also say it may still take another few days for the deal to be completed.
“While the two parties are moving ever closer to closing a deal, it could still take a few more days due to the bureaucratic processes involved,” Football Italia stated.
Galatasaray have agreed to meet Napoli’s €75m asking price for Victor Osimhen, but both clubs are still negotiating the payment structure. Napoli wants €50m paid upfront and the remaining €25m by the end of 2026. Galatasaray recently offered a bank letter of credit to guarantee full payment, possibly easing Napoli’s concerns.
Osimhen, eager to make his move permanent after a stellar loan spell, scored 37 goals and provided eight assists, helping Galatasaray win the league and cup double. The striker is hugely popular in Turkey, with tensions around his delayed transfer even leading to extreme reactions from some fans.
