The Kano State Police Command has apprehended 11 students from Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi, over the alleged killing of two fellow students.
Command spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the development in a statement to journalists on Thursday.
He said the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to determine their roles in the incident.
“Eleven students were arrested over the incident and the investigation is ongoing to find out the level of their individual involvement,” he said.
He assured that the police would thoroughly investigate the students’ killings and ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, on Wednesday, ordered a full-scale investigation into the tragic incident.
The directive was delivered by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bashir Bappa Mohammad, during an official visit to the school.
The victims, Hamza Idris Tofawa and Umar Yusuf Dungurawa, were reportedly assaulted by fellow students using locally made metal objects known as “Gwale-Gwale.”
