Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
The annual event, which gathers global leaders, top executives, and development partners, will focus on strategies to address economic challenges and foster growth.
A statement by Shettima’s Media and Communication aide, Stanley Nkwocha, revealed that the Vice President will participate in bilateral meetings, workshops, and forums during the gathering.
One of his key engagements is a workshop titled *“Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,”* organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and WEF. This session aims to boost capital flows into Africa’s markets and promote inclusive, resilient development. An announcement of the *Humanitarian and Resilience Investing Roadmap for Africa* is also expected.
Shettima will co-chair a forum on *“Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa”* at the Pischa Congress Centre. The session will highlight digital trade’s role in advancing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol adopted in 2024.
Additionally, he will serve as a panellist at the *“Global Risks 2025”* dialogue, focusing on geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges.
The Vice President will also attend a dinner for heads of state, international organizations, and WEF 2025 Crystal Awardees, alongside other dignitaries.
He is accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, Aisha Rimi.
Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Davos.
