Samsung Electronics has taken a bold step towards digital inclusivity by integrating Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba language options into selected Galaxy smartphones, marking a major leap for user experience across Nigeria.
The new feature is now available on the Galaxy S25, A56, A36, and A26 models, allowing users to navigate their devices entirely in their preferred local language. With this update, the tech giant is not only enhancing accessibility but also honoring Nigeria’s rich linguistic and cultural identity.
To celebrate the launch, Samsung hosted a culture-themed press briefing that turned into a mini cultural festival. Guests and staff dressed in traditional Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba attire, while local music and cuisine created an immersive experience showcasing the cultural depth the update represents.
Oge Maduagwu, Head of Marketing at Samsung Electronics West Africa, said the move is rooted in the brand’s commitment to making technology more personal and relatable. “Technology becomes truly impactful when it’s inclusive,” she said. “By integrating Nigerian languages, we’re ensuring that our smartphones speak to the hearts of millions.”
She emphasized that Samsung’s goal is to make devices more intuitive for Nigerian users, especially those more comfortable navigating technology in their mother tongue.
The company also hinted at plans to roll out the language feature to more devices in the near future, as part of a broader effort to close the digital gap and localize user experiences for African markets.
Samsung’s local language update is being seen as more than a software tweak—it’s a statement of cultural respect and a recognition that technology should reflect the people it serves.
