As the planting season approaches, the Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a public alert warning farmers and agribusiness operators of a rise in fraudulent social media messages—particularly on WhatsApp—requesting personal details or promoting fake registration for non-existent government schemes.
These deceptive messages falsely claim links to agricultural loans, training, or support programs. The Ministry emphasized it is not affiliated with any unverified platforms or groups soliciting such information.
In a statement made available to newsmen, the Ministry urged the farming community to remain vigilant and verify any communication through official government channels.
Dr. Afees Abolore Alabi, the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, reiterated the administration’s commitment to safeguarding farmers and ensuring transparency under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s leadership.
