Kebbi Police Arrest 11 for Alleged Sexual Abuse of Minor Resulting in Pregnancy

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested eleven individuals accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating a 13-year-old girl living with a mental health condition in Tungar Giwa village, Shanga Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga on July 13, 2025.

The statement revealed that the suspects allegedly lured the young girl with small amounts of money, ranging between 200 and 500 naira, and repeatedly took advantage of her in various locations within the village. The abuse reportedly led to a pregnancy, and the girl gave birth to a baby boy on July 8.

During initial investigations, all arrested suspects reportedly confessed to the crime. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bello M. Sani, has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to track down the remaining two suspects still at large and ensure thorough investigation of the case.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling gender-based violence and ensuring that justice is served for all victims across the state.
