Following his contentious comments about Muslim clerics and his reluctance to apologise to them, well-known Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known on social media as K1 De Ultimate, has become a topic of discussion.
In a widely shared video, K1 was seen talking to a man before his late mother’s eight-day Fidau prayer. He referred to the cleric as “Ganu si” during their conversation.
“Alfas will “Ganu si” at my house instead of my father’s place for the celebration. The phrase “Ganu si” was widely understood to indicate that clerics attended social gatherings without invitation, mostly for financial gain.
Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, a well-known and renowned cleric who gave a sermon at the event, begged the artist to apologise for his alleged derogatory remark against the cleric during the eight-day Fidau prayer on Friday, January 24, but the musician refused.
He said he didn’t do anything wrong, adding that tendering an apology would amount to admittance of guilt.
“To admit guilt is to say, ‘Okay, don’t be angry,'” he added. However, since I have done nothing wrong, there is no justification for that. Admitting guilt implies that the charges are accurate, which is untrue. The Muslim community reacted differently to K1’s not wanting to issue an apology; some praised him, while others attacked him for purportedly disparaging the clerics.
