Army Chief Urges Soldiers to Strengthen National Security

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has called on Nigerian soldiers to intensify efforts in ensuring the country’s safety and security.

Speaking during his maiden operational visit to the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Chari Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja, on Sunday, Oluyede praised the troops for their dedication to defending the nation’s sovereignty. He emphasized the need for greater commitment, particularly in tackling security challenges across various regions, stating that Nigerians are looking up to the military to make the country safer.

Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of soldiers and their families, Oluyede announced improvements in allowances, housing schemes, and access to essential provisions such as uniforms and combat gear. He also assured troops of better office and residential accommodations, as well as financial support through a soft loan scheme.

During the visit, Oluyede inspected several projects, including an electrically powered borehole, new residential quarters for senior non-commissioned officers, and the upgraded 12 Brigade Medical Centre. He urged soldiers to remain disciplined, live within their means, and stay committed to their duty of securing the nation.
