President Tinubu Orders Investigation into Damboa Army Base Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the recent terror attack on an Army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa, Borno State, which resulted in the loss of six soldiers. The attack, which occurred on January 4, 2025, has led to renewed calls for increased vigilance and proactive measures to combat insurgency in the region.

In a statement on Thursday by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, praising their sacrifice as a cornerstone of the nation’s fight for security.

“Their sacrifice in defending our nation will forever be honoured and remembered,” he said.

The President commended the Armed Forces for their swift response to the attack, particularly the military’s air component for its decisive retaliatory strikes that neutralized numerous terrorists and destroyed their assets as they attempted to escape. Tinubu noted that this resolute action demonstrates the military’s capability and readiness to confront and defeat threats to national security.

In addition to ordering an investigation, Tinubu directed the military to escalate its efforts by taking the war to the camps of bandits and terrorists, demonstrating the nation’s commitment to confronting and defeating threats to its security.
