The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise, calling on qualified Nigerians to apply for various entry-level positions across the commission.
According to the commission, the online application process began on July 20, 2026, and will end on July 27, 2026.
The recruitment covers vacancies on Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10, and 12, with opportunities available for professionals and administrative personnel who will support the commission’s operations in areas such as electoral administration, voter registration, election logistics, and data management.
INEC said the exercise is part of its efforts to strengthen its workforce and enhance the effective discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
The commission advised interested applicants to submit their applications exclusively through its official recruitment portal, stressing that the process is free and warning members of the public against paying money to anyone claiming to offer employment assistance.
Available positions are grouped into three categories. The Professional Cadre, covering Grade Levels 09, 10, and 12, includes vacancies for Accountants, Lawyers, ICT Officers, Engineers, Clinical Officers, and Quantity Surveyors. Applicants are required to possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification, while some roles also require relevant professional certifications, postgraduate qualifications, at least two years of post-qualification experience, and a valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
For the Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) position on Grade Level 08, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma (HND), or its equivalent in the Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences. They are also expected to demonstrate proficiency in data management, record keeping, and the use of Microsoft Office and other ICT applications.
The commission is equally seeking applications for the position of Executive Officer (Registration Officer) on Grade Level 07. Interested candidates must hold a National Certificate in Education (NCE) or its equivalent, in addition to good computer knowledge, organisational skills, and effective communication abilities.
INEC further outlined general eligibility requirements for all applicants. Candidates must not be above 35 years of age, must present a valid certificate of state of origin endorsed by the chairman or secretary of their local government, and must be certified medically fit by a government medical officer.
Applicants are also expected to be of good character, have no criminal record, demonstrate integrity and commitment to public service, and be willing to work in any part of the country if selected.
To complete the application, applicants are required to create an account on the INEC recruitment portal using their personal information, email address, and National Identification Number (NIN). They must then select their preferred position and upload all required documents, including a passport photograph, birth certificate or age declaration, O’Level result, academic certificates, local government identification certificate, and NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate where applicable.
The commission urged applicants to carefully review their information before submitting their forms, noting that selected vacancies cannot be changed after submission. It added that only candidates who meet the requirements and are shortlisted will be invited to the next stage of the recruitment process.
