World record holder Tobi Amusan delivered a blistering performance at the Paris Diamond League on Friday, storming to a season-best 12.24 seconds to finish second in the women’s 100m hurdles—her fastest time since setting the world record in 2022.
The Nigerian sprint queen surged through the closing metres of a star-studded race but was narrowly edged out by American Grace Stark, who set a new personal best and meeting record of 12.21s. Stark’s time now ranks her as the fifth-fastest woman in history over the distance.
Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent rounded out the podium with an impressive 12.30s, capping off one of the fastest 100m hurdles races of the season.
Amusan’s strong showing signals a remarkable resurgence. After a slow start to the 2025 campaign—finishing fourth in both Xiamen (12.74s) and Shaoxing (12.66s)—she bounced back in Rabat with a season-best 12.45s to secure her first Diamond League win of the year.
The Paris race marked her fourth Diamond League outing this season, and the form she displayed against a deep field—including world medallist Keni Harrison, Jamaica’s Nugent, Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, Dutch champion Nadine Visser, Bahamian standout Devynne Charlton, and current series leader Stark—confirmed that Amusan remains a top contender on the global stage.
She now sits fourth in the Diamond League standings with 10 points, behind Stark (23), Danielle Williams (15), and Marione Fourie (12), as the competition intensifies ahead of the finals in Zurich.
With the World Championships just around the corner, the 2022 world champion appears to be hitting her stride at the perfect moment.
Tobi Amusan isn’t just back—she’s blazing a path toward the podium, and perhaps, another historic run.
