Ekiti Police storm notorious hideout, arrest six suspect in major raid

In a daring operation, operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command stormed a notorious criminal hideout in Ado-Ekiti, arresting six suspects in the process. The raid, which took place in the Atikankan area, followed reports of armed robbery and attacks on innocent residents.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene, recounting how hoodlums attacked residents in the early hours of Thursday, making off with their belongings. The situation escalated into a clash between commercial motorcyclists and youths in the area.

Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Abutu Sunday revealed that the suspects were apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) after receiving distress calls from residents. The suspects are currently undergoing investigation, with efforts underway to capture other fleeing gang members.

Abutu urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the police, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in maintaining a peaceful state.

This development comes on the heels of recent reports of Point of Sale (PoS) robberies in the state, with the police having arrested six suspected PoS robbers in a separate operation.
