The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA). Prof. Nusirat Elelu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Eminence, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu (OON), the Chief Imam of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Ulama, describing his death as a great loss to Ilorin, Kwara State, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
In her condolence message, Prof. Elelu noted that Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu was a respected Islamic scholar, a moral compass, and a source of spiritual strength to many. Through decades of teaching, sermons, and spiritual guidance, he played a vital role in nurturing faith, promoting peace, and strengthening unity within the Ilorin Emirate and across Kwara State. His teachings reflected deep knowledge, humility, and a strong commitment to the values of Islam.
Prof. Elelu further stated that the late Chief Imam’s influence went beyond the mosque, as he was known for offering wise counsel, guiding families, youths, and leaders, and fostering harmony in the society. His legacy of knowledge, patience, and devotion to Allah will continue to inspire generations.
She extended her heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr). Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, CFR. HE. Mallam. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, CON. Executive Governor of Kwara State (Sardauna ngeri of Ilorin emirate). Family of the late Sheikh, the Ilorin Emirate Council, the Kwara State Council of Ulama, and the entire Muslim community. Prof. Elelu prayed that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and gives comfort and strength to all those mourning his passing.
