Spanish club Villarreal CF has finalized a deal to sign midfielder Thomas Partey from Premier League outfit Arsenal.
Partey, who made the switch to Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020, has been an integral part of the Gunners’ midfield. He is widely recognized for his defensive strength, work rate, and command in dictating play from the center of the pitch.
However, he was unable to secure a contract extension with the London club and will now continue his career elsewhere.
Villarreal’s interest reportedly grew after the Ghanaian midfielder indicated his desire for a new challenge and more regular playing time. The move is expected to be finalized soon, pending medicals and agreement on personal terms.
At 30, Partey is seen as a valuable asset to bolster Villarreal’s midfield, offering both defensive strength and creative support. The Yellow Submarine are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming La Liga season and European campaigns.
