The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially extended the tenure of the governing boards of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Nigeria National League (NNL), and Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO) until September 29, 2026.
This decision was ratified by the NFF Executive Committee and aligns with the end of the current administration led by NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON).
The affected boards — chaired by Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye (NPFL), Chief George Aluo (NNL), and HE Silas Ali Agara (NLO) — were initially appointed on July 1, 2023, with their terms previously set to expire on June 30, 2025.
In a statement, the NFF commended the leadership of the respective leagues for their contributions to the development of domestic football in Nigeria. The federation also urged them to build on their progress and improve the standard, visibility, and commercial value of the leagues under their care.
Meanwhile, the NFF revealed that a decision on the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) board, led by Ms. Nkechi Nneka Obi, has been postponed and will be addressed at a later date.
The announcement comes as the Super Eagles continue preparations in Uyo ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa, with optimism growing about Nigeria’s football trajectory both at home and internationally.
