Samsung has intensified competition in the artificial intelligence (AI) space by introducing AI-driven features to its mid-range Galaxy A series. The latest lineup—Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G—incorporates advanced AI capabilities, improved durability, and enhanced security to deliver a smarter and more secure mobile experience.
Tae Sun Lee, CEO of Samsung Electronics West Africa, emphasized the brand’s commitment to making AI accessible to everyone. “The new Galaxy A series marks an important step in our mission of AI for all, bringing Galaxy’s incredible AI-powered mobile experiences to more people worldwide. These features unlock limitless creativity while ensuring a safe, reliable, and fun experience,” he said.
Speaking at the launch event in Lagos, Oge Maduagwu, Head of Marketing at Samsung Electronics West Africa, highlighted the enhanced functionality of the devices. One of the standout AI features is Circle to Search, which allows users to recognize phone numbers, emails, and URLs instantly. The feature can also identify songs playing nearby without switching apps—simply long-pressing the navigation bar and tapping the music button reveals the song name and artist.
The new Galaxy A series also delivers a significant upgrade in camera capabilities. Each device boasts a 50MP main camera, with the Galaxy A56 5G and A36 5G featuring 10-bit HDR front lens recording for high-quality selfies. The A56 5G further enhances photography with a 12MP ultra-wide lens. Additionally, Samsung’s intelligent Object Eraser tool enables users to remove unwanted objects from photos, ensuring polished and distraction-free images.
Stephen Okwara, Head of Product Management at Samsung Electronics West Africa, stated, “The refined Object Eraser allows users to eliminate unwanted elements, whether it’s a passerby or a shadow, achieving a clean and professional image effortlessly.”
With these innovations, Samsung is positioning its Galaxy A series as a game-changer in the mid-range smartphone market, offering AI-powered tools and premium features at an affordable price.
