The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Department of State Services (DSS) have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing joint security operations to combat smuggling and other cross-border crimes.
Following a meeting on March 6, 2025, between the Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Joseph Adelaja, and DSS State Director, Rasheed Adelakun, both agencies agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration.
Adelaja emphasized the need for advanced strategies to counter evolving smuggling tactics, highlighting intelligence sharing and coordinated operations as critical tools. In response, Adelakun assured the DSS’s full cooperation in securing borders and protecting the economy.
The renewed partnership will focus on real-time intelligence exchange, joint enforcement operations, and capacity-building programs to enhance security effectiveness.
