NAF Airstrikes Eliminate Over 20 Bandits in Katsina

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully destroyed notorious bandit hideouts in Unguwar Goga Hillforest, Ruwan Godiya Ward, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing over 20 criminals.

The airstrikes, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma in the early hours of Thursday, targeted the fortified camps of two notorious bandit leaders, Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga.

According to a statement by NAF Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, the operation was based on careful intelligence and dealt a decisive blow to banditry in the region.

“The strikes successfully neutralized over 20 criminals, with additional casualties reported in the surrounding rocky hills. The full assessment of damage is ongoing,” the statement read.

Ali described Gero and Riga as key enablers of banditry in the area, providing shelter for terrorists responsible for deadly ambushes along the Funtua-Gusau Road, particularly between Yankara and Sheme villages.

Their elimination marks a significant breakthrough in the military’s ongoing efforts to restore peace in the North-West.
