The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has expressed support for Ushie Uguamaye, a Lagos-based National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, who claims to have received threats after criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, TUC President, Festus Osifo, urged the government to tolerate public criticism, noting that many Nigerians are frustrated and struggling.
He emphasized that persecuting individuals for expressing personal grievances would only deepen public dissatisfaction, adding that leaders must develop resilience and patience in dealing with dissent.
Uguamaye, popularly known as Raye, went viral after a TikTok video in which she criticized government policies and described Tinubu as a “terrible leader.” She later claimed that NYSC officials pressured her to take down the video.
The NYSC has yet to release an official statement on the controversy.
