Police recover 54 stolen livestock, arrest suspect in Yobe

Yobe State Police Command recovered 47 sheep, 4 rams, 2 goats, and 1 donkey allegedly stolen from border communities, according to spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim.

“On December 5, 2024, a suspect, 38-year-old Ibrahim Umaru of Jammel Village, Jacusko LGA, was arrested in possession of the stolen animals during a police patrol in Babbangida, Tarmuwa LGA.

“The suspect allegedly stole the animals from the Nigeria-Chad border area”, he explained.

The Command’s PPRO appealed to owners to visit the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters with credible evidence of ownership for immediate collection.

“The suspect has been arraigned in court and convicted”, he said.

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, urged the public to report missing items to nearby police stations to aid swift searches and potential recoveries.
