Over 60,000 Educators Set to Break Guinness World Record at Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025.

In an unprecedented move to celebrate and elevate the teaching profession, more than 60,000 Nigerian teachers from both public and private schools are set to converge at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, on September 20, 2025, to attempt breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of teachers in one location.

The landmark event, themed “Teachers Matter: Celebrating the Role of Teachers in Enhancing Quality Education,” is part of the Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025, organized by 1 Million Teachers (1MT). The announcement was made at a press briefing in Ikeja, Lagos, by Oluwaseyi Anifowose, Director of Strategic Partnerships at 1MT and convener of the conference.

Anifowose emphasized the historical significance of the event, stating:

“This is not just about breaking records, it’s about breaking barriers. It’s about challenging the status quo, reshaping public perception, and raising a new standard for educators in Nigeria. We aim to celebrate the profound impact of teachers who illuminate minds, inspire change, and transform generations—one child at a time.”

The Lagos State Government has not only endorsed the event but is actively supporting it, including approving the participation of all public school teachers in the state. The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), alongside various educational associations and stakeholders, is also involved in the initiative.

The conference will feature keynote addresses by top education leaders including the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and will conclude with a “Call to Action” communique advocating for teacher-led education policy reform in Nigeria.

Prof. Hakeem Subair, CEO of 1MT, reaffirmed the organization’s vision:

“We are committed to building a world with enough high-quality teachers to ensure every child receives proper education.”

Sola Adeola, Head of Growth at Edusko, described the upcoming event as:

“A celebration of the transformative power of teachers in shaping the future of our nation.”

The Let There Be Teachers Conference 2025 promises to be a pivotal moment in the national and global recognition of educators and their indispensable role in driving sustainable development through education.
