A new wave of digital education has begun in Nigeria with the official launch of MySlates, an innovative software application designed to transform learning for students across primary and secondary levels.
Developed through a collaboration between Cradle2Harvard International School and Asataura Technology Services, MySlates is built to bridge learning gaps by providing an interactive, curriculum-focused, and technology-driven education platform tailored for Nigerian students.
The unveiling took place during a sensitization workshop in Abuja over the weekend, where the President of Cradle2Harvard International School, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, described the application as a game-changer for digital education in Africa.
Shaibu emphasized that, unlike generic global e-learning platforms, MySlates is specifically designed to align with the Nigerian school curriculum, making it more relevant, accessible, and impactful for students and teachers. He noted that one of the biggest challenges in education today is the high cost of textbooks, and MySlates serves as a cost-effective alternative by offering digital materials at an affordable rate.
“The goal of MySlates is to ensure that students can learn at their own pace, from any location, and with any device. This platform eliminates traditional learning barriers and makes quality education accessible to all,” Shaibu said.
With features like multimedia learning, quizzes, and gamification, the application is designed to enhance student engagement and improve academic performance.
Transforming the Learning Experience
According to the developers, MySlates is not just another learning tool but a comprehensive education ecosystem that integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and real-time collaboration.
Shaibu highlighted some of the platform’s key innovations, including an AI-powered personalized learning pathway that adapts to a student’s progress, recommending areas for improvement.
He explained that MySlates also fosters student-teacher collaboration through discussion forums and group projects, making it easier for learners to engage with their peers and instructors in real-time.
“For parents, MySlates provides an academic monitoring system, giving them instant access to their child’s performance, assignments, and teacher feedback,” he added.
Some of the standout features of MySlates include:
• Downloadable e-books, notes, and study materials for offline access.
• 24/7 AI-powered support, including chatbots and live Q&A sessions.
• Built-in planners and notifications to help students keep track of assignments and deadlines.
• Comprehensive subject coverage, including Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, and Social Studies.
• AI-driven quizzes and performance analytics to track academic growth.
• Offline learning options, allow students to study without internet access.
• Scholarship finder tools, connecting students to local and international educational opportunities.
The System Engineer of MySlates, Dr Abubakar Sani, described the application as more than just an e-learning platform—it is a next-generation educational solution that bridges the gap between Learning Management Systems (LMS), Staff Management Systems (SMS), and modern digital learning technologies.
Dr. Sani said MySlates introduces groundbreaking innovations such as:
• Virtual Reality (VR) Learning – enabling students to conduct lab experiments in a simulated environment.
• Exam-Centric Preparation Tools – offering a vast database of past questions and practice tests for major exams like JAMB, WAEC, NECO SSCE, IGCSE, CheckPoint, SAT, and IELTS.
• Bite-Sized Learning Modules – simplifying complex topics into easy-to-understand lessons.
• Avatar-Powered Tutoring – allowing students to choose famous personalities such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Albert Einstein as their virtual tutors.
Inspired by the traditional black slates once used by early learners, MySlates is designed to bring that same convenience into the digital age, allowing students to learn on the go with a portable, interactive, and engaging system.
Shaibu also emphasized that user security is a top priority, with the platform featuring state-of-the-art data protection measures to ensure the privacy of students, teachers, and parents.
Beyond being a learning platform, MySlates also serves as a full educational management system, catering to:
• Students – with personalized learning paths and engaging study tools.
• Parents – offering real-time academic tracking and progress reports.
• Schools – providing a unified system for administration, staff management, and academic coordination.
“As the world embraces digital transformation, MySlates is set to reshape the future of education in Nigeria and beyond, empowering students, teachers, and parents with a revolutionary learning experience,” Shaibu concluded.
