Manchester United have completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in a deal worth £71 million. The Cameroonian forward has signed a five-year contract running until June 2030, with an option for a further year.
The transfer includes a guaranteed fee of £65 million, with an additional £6 million in performance-based add-ons. Mbeumo is expected to join the United squad flying out to the United States on Tuesday for their pre-season tour.
Speaking after the announcement, the 24-year-old expressed excitement over joining the club he supported as a child.
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take it. This is the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo said. “I know I have the mentality and character to reach another level here, learning under Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.”
The Red Devils moved swiftly to secure Mbeumo following a disappointing Premier League campaign in which they scored just 44 goals—their lowest tally since the competition’s rebranding. United identified the Brentford talisman as a priority target to strengthen their attack.
Mbeumo, who began his professional career at French side Troyes, joined Brentford in 2019 for £5.8 million. Over five seasons, he made 242 appearances and scored 70 goals, including 20 in the Premier League last season alone.
The move marks another statement of intent by United, who continue their squad overhaul under new management ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
