Man United target new goalkeeper signing as Onana injured

Manchester United are set to move for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor as they aim to bolster their goalkeeping lineup ahead of the new season.

With first-choice keeper André Onana sidelined by a hamstring injury and facing form issues since his 2023 switch from Inter Milan, the Red Devils are actively exploring backup options.

United have initiated discussions with Aston Villa over a possible transfer for Argentina international Emiliano Martinez, who is said to be open to the move.

Manchester United may abandon their pursuit of Emiliano Martinez due to Aston Villa’s £40 million asking price. Instead, they are now set to activate the £6 million release clause for Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor.

Botafogo is reportedly preparing for Victor’s exit and eyeing Matheus Mendes as his replacement. Meanwhile, André Onana is likely to miss United’s pre-season and could be unavailable for their Premier League opener against Arsenal.
