The Kwara State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), in collaboration with Bursar Investment Company Limited, has conducted a step-down training for secondary school students on small ruminant production and feed processing.
Held at Gaa Imam, Ilorin, the initiative aimed to introduce young people to the economic benefits of livestock farming and encourage their participation in agribusiness.
State Project Coordinator, Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye, emphasized that L-PRES is committed to improving livestock productivity, commercial viability, and resilience to climate change and other challenges. He highlighted the project’s goal of transforming traditional livestock practices into modern, profitable ventures while preparing students for opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Training organizer Alhaji Amuda Busari expressed his motivation to extend the knowledge gained from previous capacity-building sessions to grassroots communities. He praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the L-PRES team for their commitment to empowering young people through agriculture.
Mrs. Ogunwale Kafilat, an Agricultural Science teacher at Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, affirmed that students would apply their newly acquired skills to enhance livestock production in the state.
