IGP Reaffirms Ban on Public Parade of Criminal Suspects

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has reiterated the ban on publicly parading criminal suspects, aligning with a directive from the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

In a statement on Tuesday, Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, emphasized the IGP’s commitment to upholding human rights and adhering to international best practices in policing. He noted that all police commands and zones had been instructed to enforce the ban as part of the force’s modernization efforts.

Adejobi urged the media and public to support the directive by ensuring responsible reporting, stressing that the policy aims to preserve the dignity of suspects and uphold a fair judicial process.
