Father arraigned over alleged five-year defilement of teenage daughter In Lagos

A Lagos 42-year-old man,Emmanuel Egbosimba, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defiling his 19-year-old daughter over a period of five years.

According to the report from Police Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the disturbing act began in 2020, when the victim was just 14 years old, and continued till 2025. The incidents reportedly took
place at 29B, Olusesi Close, Ile Ewe, Ejigbo, Lagos.

Ademigbuji informed the court that Egbosimba allegedly began sexually assaulting his daughter since the death of his wife, and continued to do so despite her many attempts to stop him.

However, after enduring years of trauma, the young woman report the matter to the police, leading to her father’s arrest.

During the investigation, the victim told officers that her father forced himself on her almost every day since her mother’s passing.

ASP Ademigbuji stated that the offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes severe penalties for sexual offences, including rape and defilement.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr L. A. Owolabi, did not take the defendant’s plea. Instead, he ordered that Egbosimba be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP. The case was adjourned to November 17, 2025, for further mention.
