Nigerian football legend Austine Jay-Jay Okocha has urged Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen to prioritize his own and his family’s interests as he weighs up his next career move.
Osimhen, who has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, recently turned down a mega offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal. The Napoli star is widely expected to leave the Italian club ahead of the 2025–26 season, with several top European clubs showing keen interest in signing him.
Speaking in an interview with Sport 247, Okocha stressed the importance of personal conviction and responsibility in such major life decisions.
“The decision should be his. Whether it goes well or not, he must own it. I don’t believe in deciding someone’s future. He should choose what’s best for him and his family,” Okocha stated.
The former Bolton Wanderers captain, known for his flair and leadership both on and off the pitch, emphasized that every player’s journey is unique and must be guided by personal goals and values rather than public opinion or external pressure.
As Osimhen’s future remains a major talking point among fans and football analysts, the striker’s next move is expected to be one of the most high-profile transfers of the upcoming window. Whether he remains in Europe or explores options elsewhere, all eyes are now on the 25-year-old Nigerian star to reveal his next destination.
