The Bariga Local Council Development Area in Lagos has renamed the well-known ‘Charly Boy’ bus stop in honour of award-winning rapper and Bariga native, Olamide Adedeji, widely known as Badoo.
The announcement was made by outgoing council chairman Kolade Alabi David as part of broader efforts to celebrate individuals who have elevated Bariga’s image both nationally and internationally through talent and impact.
Alabi explained that the move follows careful reflection on residents and public figures whose achievements have placed Bariga on the global map. “Today, we officially rename streets and landmarks in honour of their legacies,” he said.
In the same initiative, Ilaje Road was renamed after Juju music legend King Sunny Adé, while other roads across Bariga now bear the names of notable Nigerian figures, including singer 9ice, footballer Bukayo Saka, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The renaming follows a similar gesture by Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, which recently renamed 24 streets within its area.
