Adebayor Hails Kanu as “God of Football,” Shuts Down Comparisons

Former Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has once again declared his admiration for Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu, calling him his “idol” and “god of football.”

Speaking with Brila FM, the ex-Arsenal striker, who famously wore the No. 25 jersey once used by Kanu, said the connection shaped his football journey.

“Please, no comparison,” Adebayor pleaded. “Kanu is my idol and my god of football. Thank you for understanding.”

Adebayor, who also starred for Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham, retired with 32 goals in 87 appearances for Togo — but says Kanu will always be the greater legend in his eyes.
